LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists is urging moms-to-be to get their flu shots this season no matter what trimester they are in.

It also says the earlier the better.

The new guidelines urge women who are even trying to become pregnant to get vaccinated.

The CDC reported less than half of pregnant women got their flu shots last season.

Flu season typically starts in October and lasts until May.
