LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A new office and research building going up in downtown Louisville will have a green roof with plants native to Kentucky.
The Nucleus Research and Innovation Park-Market Street building will be "topped off" during a ceremony Tuesday with University of Louisville President James Ramsey and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer participating.
The event will feature a prototype of the green roof and some of the plants to be grown there.
Nucleus is Kentucky's innovation center and an arm of the U of L Foundation.
The building is on the site of the old Louisville Haymarket property. The structure has eight stories and 197,000 square feet and is expected to be LEED-certified, verifying its energy efficiency and other environment-friendly features.
