NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) The 5-year-old survivor of a New Albany house fire will be able to leave the hospital and come home on Friday.

Tatyana Hughes was set to be released from Riley Children’s Hospital on Wednesday, but doctors decided to keep her a few extra gays because her nutrition levels were too low.

Hughes family has planned a welcome home celebration in her honor, and to honor the firefighter that carried her out of the house, saving her life.

She suffered serious third-degree burns when police say Cody Cashion, 18, fired a flare into the home where she and her siblings were sleeping for the night.
