LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The family of a 5-year-old girl who survived a New Albany fire that killed her three siblings says she’s making progress.
Tat’yana Hughes’ grandmother said the little girl was taken off of a ventilator Friday night.
Earlier this week, she had emergency surgery at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis where she’s been since the deadly fire on January 4.
Police say Tat’yana and her family were visiting the home on Ealy Street when 18-year-old Cody Cashion fired a flare gun into it. They believe Cashion had a property dispute with someone who lived there.
He’s currently in custody charged with murder.
