LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A 4-year-old boy remains in critical condition after police say he accidentally shot himself in the face. It happened in the Algonquin neighborhood Saturday around 3:30 p.m.

Sunday evening, a white teddy bear hung at the door where Brittany Thompson and her three children live.

"I see the kids all the time. It's my block. You know, it just don't feel right," DJ Brown, a neighbor said.

Neighbors on the 2700 block of Narragansett Drive say Saturday's shooting should have been prevented. It's left those who knew 4-year-old Kamarion Posey in a whirlwind of emotions.

"Devastated, heart broke, just distraught," Brown said.

Brown said he's confused as to how the boy managed to locate a handgun in the home and pull the trigger on himself.

"It's just not right, just not right," Brown said.

It's unknown if Kamarion's mother with face any charges, but Brown says she should.

"Wanton endangerment. You know, you're endangering the lives of these babies," Brown said. "This is a real high crime area, but come on, the kids."

Like many on the block, Brown hopes his young neighbor will make a full recovery and come home soon.
