BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) -- NASCAR is adding a rule telling drivers not to approach the track or moving cars after an accident.

The announcement comes after a driver was struck and killed during a dirt-track race in New York. NASCAR star Tony Stewart -- whose car hit and killed Kevin Ward in the sprint car event -- is skipping this weekend's Sprint Cup race in Michigan.

Jeff Burton will take his place.
