(WHAS11) -- Did you want to be an astronaut when you grew up? Do you still? Now you have the chance to experience a tiny slice of what it might be like with a free Xbox game just released by NASA.

Using "Kinect" motion sensors, the "Mars Rover Landing" game lets players take control of the space craft as they try to land it safely on the red planet.

NASA released the game to show the public how tough it is to stick a landing safely. Some of the challenges include reducing speed while staying on target and deploying the parachute.

Overall, the game lasts about seven minutes but NASA warns that it's very difficult to beat! The game is available now on Xbox's Live Marketplace.

The real life rover is scheduled to land in three weeks.
