PAOLI, Ind. (AP) -- Authorities have filed murder charges against three southern Indiana men in connection with a drug-related triple shooting outside Paoli that killed two men and injured one.
Forty-eight-year-old Elbert Edward Brooks of New Albany was being held Thursday on $1 million bond following his arrest Wednesday night. Police are searching for 36-year-old James L. Davidson of Marengo and 35-year-old John Carpenter, both of Marengo. Each man faces two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of robbery. An affidavit says methamphetamine was stolen.
The shootings Monday at a mobile home killed 56-year-old Nicholas Fields and 25-year-old Cory Michael Harris. A third man, 29-year-old Daniel Smitson, is recovering from a gunshot wound to the mouth. Each victim is from Paoli, located about 45 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky.
