(WHAS 11)--The man charged in the murder of a Lexington chef is back in the Bluegrass state.

Robert Taylor was extradited from Texas yesterday to answer to charges of murder, kidnapping and tampering with evidence.

Court documents reveal Taylor showed up at Alex Johnson’s apartment and asked him to come downstairs saying he had a surprise for him.

That’s when a second suspect, Timothy Ballard, says he helped kidnap Johnson and witnessed Taylor beating Johnson to death.

Johnson’s body was found in the Kentucky River last month.
