(WHAS11) -- A Jeffersontown mother accused of trying to abandon her six-year-old at a Sam’s Club faced a judge Friday morning.

A judge released Fengshan Huang on her own recognizance. Huang’s attorney says the whole thing was a misunderstanding caused by a  language barrier. He says the accusations that she tried to abandon her child at a Sam’s Club on Blankenbaker Parkway are false.

Employees there said when they tried to reunite Huang and her child, she told them she didn’t want the child anymore. Huang’s attorney says she didn’t say that.

Her two children are now at The Home of the Innocents, but attorneys say they are expected to be turned over to other family members soon.

During the hearing, the judge ruled Huang’s visitation rights should mirror those she’s been given by Family Court. Her attorney says she’s allowed visitation with her 13-year-old, who was not at the Sam’s Club. She isn’t allowed visitation with her six-year-old, but her attorney says they are hoping to have that changed.

She has a probable cause hearing set for December 17.
