(WHAS11) -- Amid controversy elsewhere, the construction of a Louisville mosque continues east of the Watterson.
The mosque is located in the 8000 block of old Westport Rd.
Islamic law prohibits paying a fixed interest rate, such as a mortgage, which has drawn out this project as cash is available.
But with the dome just installed this week and windows being installed soon, this mosque is expected to be functional within six months.
And the Islamic community is eager to dispel mystery or concern about a building that looks more like Iraq than Kentucky.
