LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) --  More than 100,000 students head back to class Wednesday in Jefferson County and that means a lot of buses on the roadway in the Metro area.

Nine-hundred-seventy-five JCPS buses will roll out and officials said parent and students should expect some delays as the first day is always a learning process for both schools and families.

The district said approximately 70 percent of JCPS students bused and ridership has steadily grown the last five years.

JCPS urges parents and students to be patient the first few days of school and said additional buses may be added if needed.

Need bus information? Call the JCPS bus hotline - 485-RIDE - the line will be open Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. or click here for the JCPS bus finder.
