SCOTT COUNTY, Ind. -- Federal authorities have located Aedan Daehnke, 3, from Austin, Ind.
Police said Aedan Daehnke was abducted by his mother, Amie Sandlin, on August 11 after a custodial visit. A felony warrant for Custodial Interference and Escape were issued for Amie Sandlin on August 15. The warrants were issued out of the Scott County courts after she failed to return Aedan to his father.
Aedan had not been seen or heard from since his abduction on August 11. Aedan was listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s Website and after several tips and days of nonstop investigation, Aedan and his alleged abductor, Amie Sandlin, were located.
They were located Wednesday afternoon in Mexico, approximately 30 miles south of the city of Tijuana. Mexican authorities along with the United States Marshal’s Office Fugitive Task Force from San Diego, CA, took Amie Sandlin into custody and she was extradited back to the United States.
Aedan was taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services of California and is awaiting the arrival of his father to take custody of him.
Amie Sandlin will be extradited from San Diego, CA to Scott County.
Also assisting in the investigation was the New Albany City Police Department and the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office.
This investigation is continuing.
