Missing Ind. man's body pulled from Ohio River

CANNELTON, Ind. (News Release) -- The search for a missing Indiana man near the Ohio River ended Sunday when his body was pulled from the river near where he was last seen.

On Saturday, Perry County law enforcement were notified of a missing man identified as 20-year-old Derrick S. Sandage of Cannelton. 

Witnesses reported Mr. Sandage was last seen on the river bank in between Cannelton and Tell City. 

A search was conducted on and along the Ohio River and the river bank’s edge until late in the evening on Saturday.  Indiana Conservation Officer’s used their side scan sonar device to search the river’s bottom.  Indiana State Police K-9 was used to search land area around the river. 

Police returned early Sunday to continue the search near the sighting.   Around 8 a.m., they located the deceased body of a male subject in the Ohio River. 

The male victim was identified as Derrick Sandage.
