LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Cars will soon be crossing the new Milton-Madison Bridge.
Transportation officials announced on Wednesday the bridge that connects Madison, Ind. and Milton, Ky. will reopen to traffic at 11:59 p.m. Thursday night.
The scheduled reopening comes just one week after the historic slide to put the 2,400 foot steel bridge in place.
There will be more work to do even after the bridge reopens. A 20 mile per hour speed limit will be in place and drivers may come across some lane closures.
An event to mark completion of the project will be held later this year.
