Louisville, Ky. (WHAS) – Christmas became a little more joyful when Louisville Metro Police’s 4th Division, Kosair Charities and Metro councilman David James hosted parties at Family Scholar House Saturday afternoon.
It’s an opportunity for police officers to interact with children and families in non-threatening situations.
“Help isn’t always the easiest thing to do. But, police officers by their very nature are very giving. This gives us a chance to connect with kids, to be with kids and you get this immediate gratification,” Chief Steve Conrad said. “You see those smiles on those kids and this is what the holiday season is all about.”
The Family Scholar House helps families struggling with poverty, homelessness, and domestic abuse.
