MEDORA, Ind. (WHAS11) -- The flags were lowered outside of Medora Community School on Monday to honor the life of sophomore student Kassi Yoskovich, 16, who was killed in a hit and run accident on Friday evening.

It happened along a curve on George Johnson Road in Lawrence County. Noah Brown, 14, was also hurt in the crash. Officers say a car hit the two who were on a moped. The car left the scene and officers are investigating a vehicle of interest, but have not made any arrests.

Counselors and ministers went around to individual classrooms at school on Monday to console students with their grief. Kassi was a volleyball player and a cheerleader. She will be missed at the first home volleyball game on Tuesday night. Her teammates decided they will play in her honor.

"She was the kind of kid who also helped other kids. She was the first one to step up and say 'What's wrong? What can I do to help?'" Principal Brad McCammon said.
