LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A very frightening morning for a Louisville employee who was beaten on the job.

Police say he walked in on a burglar who attacked him and is now fighting for his life in the hospital.

“Shocking, actually; it’s only like a block away from where I work. I come in at 7 o'clock in the morning everyday and to know something like that happened, it’s unreal,” Quintin Sweeney, who works nearby, said.

An employee of the company, Packaging Unlimited, was severely beaten before 5 a.m. Friday at 12th and Kentucky in West Louisville.

The victim is in his sixties and has life-threatening injuries.

“There needs to be something done around here with all this stuff going on. Something has got to be done. The West End ain’t that bad but the people are making it bad,” John Jackson, who works nearby, said.

The company makes boxes and no suspect has been captured at this time.

After this incident those who work nearby say they aren't taking any chances.
