LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The man who was responsible for Ford’s Louisville Assembly Plant’s rebirth has been promoted to a new position.
The auto giant is promoting John Sovonia to Director of Manufacturing for Assembly Operations, according to a Ford memo obtained by WHAS11 News.
The internal release says Savona, who has managed two other Ford facilities in Michigan, “brings to his new role in-depth knowledge and experience in plant operations.”
There has not been a replacement named for the Louisville plant.
After a $600 million rebuilding effort, the Fern Valley Road plant began producing the Ford Escape last April.
Ford is reporting record sales of the smaller SUV.
