PIKEVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police say a man has been killed during flash flooding in eastern Kentucky when he fell off a bridge.
Police say Craig Morris, of Carrie, had stopped on a bridge on US 119 in the Zebulon community on Saturday. Morris was attempting to check on a family member's residence when he fell from the bridge.
Pike County officials placed the county under an emergency early Sunday.
Emergency officials say numerous homes were damaged, some were washed away, and roads and bridges were damaged during the flash flooding Saturday.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that homes throughout the central part of the county were without tap water and would be on a boil-water advisory when it comes back on.
Kentucky Power reported that 6,262 customers had power outages during the heavy winds and thunderstorms.
