Ind. man facing attempted murder charge in stabbing of his brother

SEYMOUR, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A man is charged with attempted murder after his brother was rushed to the hospital with multiple stab wounds.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department received a report of a stabbing around 8:30 p.m. Friday from Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. 

According to police, Melvin Cross, 65, was brought into the ER with multiple stab wounds to his chest area.  Melvin was treated, then airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for further treatment.

Police arrested his brother, Robert Cross, 62, in the 750 block of North US Hwy. 31 and charged him with attempted murder and criminal recklessness with a weapon.

Melvin's condition is unknown at this time. 

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
