JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A heinous crime has rocked a close-knit neighborhood in Jeffersonville, Ind. after police said a man was found in his home lying in a pool of blood by his mother several days after being murdered.

Michael Conner, a neighbor, has known Eric Krupp for the 8 or 9 years that they have been neighbors. Krupp was known by his neighbors on Maple Street as the guy who could get a little crazy, but more often than not, he kept to himself.

"Being around here, Eric's been kind of exciting.  He's done some interesting things, but never anything that would hurt anybody,” Conner said.

However, over the last few days, no one has seen or heard from Krupp at all.

"I heard his mom found him. Worst thing that can happen to a parent is to bury your children,” Conner said.

Police said Krupp’s mother found her 49-year-old son in the living room of his home, in a pool of blood and he had been lying there dead for a few days.

"He had suffered multiple stab wounds to his head, neck and abdomen, and that was the cause of his death,” Todd Hollis, Jeffersonville Police Department, said.

"It doesn't sound random to me. Police should have a pretty good idea what's going on because the school here is security camera heavy,” Conner said.

Police have the video captured by those security cameras at Maple Elementary School right next to Krupp’s home.

Neighbors said recently a couple was living with Krupp, coming and going in a gray van.

"We don't know if they were there to see him or if they had anything to do with his homicide,” Hollis said.

Conner said Krupp was a good carpenter and a nice guy who may have had problems with alcohol, but never would have hurt anyone.

"It just happens.  You deal with the wrong people and stuff happens,” Conner said.

Police said Eric Krupp had a criminal history, mainly involving alcohol, but at this point, they don't think that had anything to do with his murder.
