BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A man has filed a lawsuit against the Bardstown Police Department accusing them of using excessive force.
David Scott Newton claims his arm was broken last year after an incident at the Old Talbott Tavern, a well-known restaurant and bar in downtown Bardstown. The charges against the man were later dismissed.
In the civil suit Newton is asking for compensation for damages. He claims inadequate hiring, training and supervision by the police department.
The city and police department cannot comment because the lawsuit is pending.
