LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A man is now behind bars for the murder of a PRP man found shot to death in his home on Thursday, March 28.
Charles Robert Edwards was arrested in the murder of 50-year-old Mike Doss. Doss was found shot to death in his home off Sylvania Road.
Police said Edwards was actually at the scene when the body was discovered.
"He did arrive back at the scene, and his behavior was odd. It drew our attention. We went from there to witness statements and recovered physical evidence that we won't go into linking him to the crime," Sgt. Aaron Crowell of the LMPD said.
Edwards was first arrested at the scene for disorderly conduct. Then according to the police report, Edwards made a statement that he was involved in a murder. No further details were offered.
"There was a brief statement made, but we are not going into the details of that statement," Crowell said.
The victim’s family said they know Edwards, but the motive for the shooting still is unclear.
"There was a relationship. It’s still early in the relationship, and we are still trying to hammer out the details of that relationship. But it appears they are acquaintances," Crowell said.
While the motive remains unclear, police said they recovered several firearms from Edwards.
Doss died of a single gunshot wound to the head according to a coroner's report. His 5-year-old grandson was in the home at the time.
