LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police are investigating a crash on the Greenbelt Highway leaving two people dead early Saturday morning.
Police say the accident happened around 2:30 a.m. when a man driving a Chevy Blazer north in the southbound lanes when he crashed into another Chevy Blazer driven by a teenager who was traveling south.
The coroner identified the teenage victim as 18-year-old Ellissa Greenwell. Greenwell succumbed to her multiple injuries at University Hospital just after 11 a.m.
The 31-year-old man who was driving the wrong way also died later from his injuries.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Greenwell went to Southern High School and graduated last May and was in the business management program.
