LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- After a tragic double shooting that killed 18-month-old Ne'riah Miller was shot and killed and wounded her mother, Cierra Miller, Wednesday night, Man Up is calling on the community to address the recent violence in the Shawnee Neighborhood.

Man Up held a news conference Thursday where Minister Jerald Muhammad, with the Nation of Islam,  challenged the community, including church and city leaders, to "do something different" to help change the cycle of violence.

A rally will be held Thursday near the scene of the shooting on the 100 block of S. 37th Street. A second rally will be held Friday at the King Solomon Baptist Church on Anderson Street.
