LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Bourbon in Kentucky is still on the rise as one of its major power-players continues to grow.
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has approved a $67 million expansion for Maker’s Mark to keep up with growing demand.
Maker’s says it will expand its distillery in Loretto, Kentucky with an exact replica of the current one.
The bourbon maker says all of the equipment and processes will be an exact replica of the original so that the product will be consistent.
Maker’s says it will be able to increase production by 50 percent.
The first bourbon will go into the barrel in about 18 months.
The expansion will mean about 30 new jobs.
Loretto is about 30 miles south of Bardstown.
