LEXINGTON, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The majority of Kentuckians oppose using $80 million in state funds to renovate Rupp Arena as requested by Lexington's mayor.
According to a new WHAS11/Courier Journal Bluegrass Poll, of the nearly 1,800 registered voters we asked, only 18% said the state should spend $80 million to renovate it.
The majority, 75%, said find some other way to get the funds and 7% weren't sure.
One of those interviewed after the poll said with so much getting cut, other things are simply more important than renovating the home of the Kentucky Wildcats.
As of right now, the state is not financing the renovations after it failed to pass the Legislature.
