Louisville man drowns in SW Indiana lake

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WHAS11) – A body of a Louisville man has been recovered after a boating accident at Dogwood Lake at the Glendale Fish and Wildlife area.

According to Indiana Conservation Officers, 25-year-old Jacob Duncan’s body was recovered just before 9 a.m. Saturday.

Officials say Duncan was traveling in a boat with friend 51-year-old Frank Refalo when it began taking on water and sank in 10-feet of water.

Officials add that Refalo was able to stay afloat by a cooler but eventually lost contact with Duncan.

A camper nearby was able to rescue Refalo but Duncan could not be could not be found.

Emergency officials were called around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.

Refalo was transported to the hospital for hypothermia and was later released.

Police say the incident is still under investigation and believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
