Louisville man arrested for drug trafficking

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Police arrested a Jefferson County man Thursday on charges of drug trafficking and DUI.

Fifty-seven-year-old Bernard Ford was first noticed by police attempting to pull out of a gated parking lot behind a building on Dixie Highway.

According to a police report, officers approached the vehicle and said it smelled of alchol.  One of the officer asked Ford to get out of the vehicle and said he was unstable as he exited. A field sobriety test was administered and police said Ford failed.

 

During the arrest, police said they noticed case and a roll of plastic bags in the back seat of the car. A search of the vehicle turned up a bag containing a substance police said looked like heroin. Officer also found $4,545 in Ford's vehicle.

Ford was taken to Metro Corrections and is will be arraigned in a few days.
