LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Louisville Zoo is celebrating Earth month and they’ve teamed up with the Louisville Water Company to teach children water conservation while saving the planet.

Representatives from the LWC explained how water is purified with a demonstration at the Glacier Run exhibit.

They told children the use of tap water is better for the environment because it keeps plastic bottles out of landfills.

“The Earth is an important place, obviously we all have to live here so we all want to do our part to make sure that we keep the Earth clean and safe and tap water is a really easy way to do that,” Channa Newman of the Louisville Water Company said.

The big event this month will be on April 21 when they Zoo throws a big party for the Earth and offers $2 admission.
