Louisville, Ky. (WHAS) – A local Louisville non-profit held its inaugural event Saturday to raise awareness about preserving historic ‘shotgun’ styled seen in the Portland neighborhood.
Preservation Louisville created “Preservation S.O.S.”, or Save Our Shotguns, to educate the community by discussing the historical role shotgun houses played in Louisville’s history.
The presentation included a walking tour that included the Shepperson home in the 2700 block of West Main, where renovations are underway for a window restoration project.
Preservation S.O.S. strives to work with owners of the shotgun homes to help them maintain their properties while restoring historical significance.
The non-profit not only want to work with owners of these homes, but help the community understand the importance this housing inventory.
