LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A handful of Louisville Metro Council members are calling for a ban on offensive language at their meetings.
The ban is prompted by just one speaker who has used a racial slur several times over the last year or so while addressing Metro Council.
Council rules already forbid profanity by anyone who signs up to address the meetings, but Metro Councilwoman Attica Scott said they need to do more.
This would just be a change in Metro Council's rules, not an ordinance.
It first has to be approved by the County Attorney before moving forward.
