LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Jericka Snead,24, died Monday morning after being shot in the leg. Police say the shooter was her own brother.
“The family just wanted to thank everyone over the last week that have sent their prayers in regards to Jericka’s situation up at University of Louisville hospital,” said community activist Christopher 2X.
The family has asked him to speak on their behalf.
“They love not only their daughter, their son that's obviously involved in this terrible tragedy and that's the way they are describing it,” said 2X.
Doctors told Jericka's family there was nothing more they could do medically to keep her alive. Her family made the difficult decision to take her off life support.
It comes exactly one week after she was shot in the leg on Trotter Trace off Beulah Church Road.
Police say Jericka got into an argument with her brother.
Her brother Jules Snead is charged with assault for allegedly shooting her. Police say his charges will be upgraded to murder.
“They are just asking the public to let the truth be sorted out through the judicial process, asking everybody to understand that they believe this is a terrible tragedy. They love both not only their daughter who has left them physically but also their son who is still with them,” said 2X.
