Lou. woman accused of locking woman in apartment, setting it on fire

Police say Martin intentionally set fire to Jonia Jandt's interior basement apartment after she had arrived home on June 15, 2007. The two women lived in a conjoining home, but did not live in the same part of that home. Jandt lived in the basement at the time of the alleged attack. Police say Jandt was able to jump over the fire, but could not exit because the door had been dead-bolted shut.

(WHAS11) --  A Louisville woman has been arrested in connection with a 2007 arson in which police say she intentionally locked another person inside her home and started a fire.

According to court records, Carla Martin, 60, was arrested early Monday morning from a residence in the 11000 block of Reality Trail in Louisville.

A warrant placed for the arrest of Carla Martin written in 2009, continues by saying Jandt tried to knock on Martin's door for help, but Martin refused to answer her door.

Police say Jandt then went back to get her key and was able to free herself out of the locked door, but three of her pets did not make it out alive.

The report indicates that two weeks before the alleged arson, Martin and Jandt got into an argument over a boyfriend. The warrant says Martin has told Jandt in the past that she "has killed before." The relationship between the two women and why it took five years for this arrest to be made was not stated in the warrant or arrest slip.

Martin is now facing 1st degree Wanton Endangerment and 1st degree Arson charges.
