LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) –Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and and Kentucky Lt. Governor Jerry Abramson call it quite the catch. Millions of dollars will be invested into Kentuckiana with dozens of jobs.
That's due to the announcement by Long John Silver's that the company has moved back home to Louisville.
"The Long John Silver's brand remains the largest quick service seafood restaurant brand in the United States," Mike Kern, LJS Partners President & CEO, said.
The company was sold in December.
Yum! Brands didn't think the seafood chain was a catch or that it fit into their long term business model. Thanks to a group of investors and franchise owners, that all changed.
With it, our area will net 70 office jobs.
Lt. Governor Abramson said: "When people say 70 jobs, that's 70 families, folks who will have an opportunity to pay for the roof over their head and groceries on the table."
With nearly $4 million invested into the Commonwealth and $1.5 million in tax incentives approved by a state finance authority, Long John Silver's worldwide headquarters will be at the 9500 block of Williamsburg Plaza near Hurstbourne Parkway and Shellbyville Road.
"This day would be incomplete if the citizens of Louisville did not proclaim this Long John's Silver headquarters day, congratulations," Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said.
The office jobs should be available almost immediately.
