LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- One lucky East Hardin Middle School teacher will be spending Teacher Appreciation Week in Washington D.C. and it's all thanks to social media.

Brooke Whitlow, a technology education teacher, pioneered various ways of using social media in the classroom.

Students and parents have a front-row seat to her classroom through Twitter and Instagram.

President Obama and his administration saw her innovation and connectedness and invited her to a social as part of Teacher Appreciation Week.

Whitlow and other selected teachers will tour the White House and enjoy a cup of tea with Doctor Jill Biden.
