LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- A Louisville representative today said the already discounted toll rates for frequent commuters on the anticipated bridge is still too much for low income drivers.

The rate for frequent commuters is $1 each way for those who cross at least 40 times monthly.

Representative Jim Wayne introduced a bill for low income commuters to pay the tolls, but would be eligible for a tolling rebate if they meet the standards for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit.

A consultant for the bridge’s project advised against different rates for travelers with different incomes.
