LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Families who are impacted by premature births was helped out by a haircut special hosted by a local barbershop.
The 5 Star Barbershop in Jeffersontown offered $10 haircuts which proceeds support the March of Dimes.
A mother who was on hand for the event said her teenage daughter was born 16-weeks early and barely weighed one pound.
“The prognosis wasn't good. I was told she wouldn't survive. If she did, she would be in a wheelchair the rest of her life. March of Dimes helped with the research and everything they do to prevent premature births and to ensure we have healthy babies. They’re near and dear to my heart,” she said.
The goal for Sunday’s event was to collect 10,000 dimes for the non-profit.
