LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Salvation Army marked 85 years in the Portland neighborhood with a special block party to thank residents.
Those who turned out enjoyed carnival games, moonbounces, live music and plenty of food.
Part of the idea behind the event was to make residents aware that the Salvation Army can help them meet their needs.
“We can't do everything, but we try to do our part. We just want people to know we're here and that we want to serve this community. We just want to do our part because sometimes people don't know that there's someone to help them and we want them to know we want to help them, Captain Michael Good said.
More than 400 people attended the event.
