LAGRANGE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The LaGrange Fire Department unveiled its new headquarters to the public on Saturday.
The LaGrange Fire Department dedicated their new station one building Saturday morning in the 300 block of North First Avenue, which is not far from their former station at 2nd and Main streets.
The new 20,000 square foot building is part of a $4 million investment, and comes complete with dorm facilities, an exercise room, training facilities, and office space. There's also a basement that will serve as a severe weather shelter and will eventually be turned into a community room.
"It's been a long time coming," said Chief Jim Sitzler of LaGrange Fire and Rescue. "The other station was very insufficient in terms of it didn't have any dorm facilities for future paid guys to live in, didn't have any office space, we'd just outgrown the station."
Chief Jim Sitzler says he's very proud of the new fire station and he wants to show it off to the community.
He says the public is welcome to visit and tour the new facilities.
