LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- Metro Police are investigating a body of a young woman found on Friday.
A young woman, Kristine Pierson, 24, was found dead in an alley behind a home in the 800 block of North 33rd Street, in the Portland neighborhood. Police say she suffered severe trauma all over her body
A passerby made a horrible discovery; along the flood-wall there was a body of a young woman.
The coroner, Sam Weakley, said his initial autopsy was inconclusive and was afraid people jumped to quickly that this was a homicide.
Pierson was a graduate of Butler Traditional High School in Shively. Her mother, Cheryl Browning, said she grew up in Valley Station and did not know why she was in Portland.
Bobby Hickey lives in front of the alley where her body was found.
"I didn't know what was going til this morning when they woke me up at 4 o’clock banging on the door and they had their flashlights going,” Hickey said.
The body was discovered shortly before 2 a.m. and police said she had no identification on her and no clue how she got there.
Hickey was shocked when police told him the news
"He wanted to know if I heard anything because they found a body back there by the flood wall," Hickey said.
In this part of Portland many homes are under renovation or not occupied. Still, those people that do live in the area were shocked about the murder.
"This is a quiet part of the neighborhood,” Hickey said. “One of the quieter parts of Portland. It shocked me.”
