LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Metro Police said more people are getting around on mopeds and scooters and they want to help keep the owners from becoming a theft victim.

On Friday, officers spent the afternoon handing out free locks at the LMPD District on Fourth Street.

Officers said there have been a rash of thefts on scooters and mopeds and they are hoping the free locks will help curb the crime.

Tim Branch said it is his main mode of transportation and it has been stolen twice.
