LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville man was arrested after police said he attacked a woman and caused significant damage to a home.

Police said Gerald Neal became angry when he was woken up by a woman.

Neal, police said, was intoxicated when he picked up the woman and slammed her on a table.  He then began to destroy property in the home. Police noted Neal ripped off several drawers and cabinets and punched holes in walls, causing an estimated $1000 in damage.

He then, according to police, placed a knife against the woman's throat and stated "one of them would be leaving in a body bag."

Police said the woman was able to get away and call 911.  She had bruises to her arms, back and chest.

Gerald Neal is charged with criminal mischief, assault, wanton endangerment and terrorist threatening.

Police said Neal and the woman are in a relationship.
