LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—A local man is arrested after police respond to a domestic dispute and locks self into his residence.
John Lee Ricketts, 33, was arrested after he fled from a domestic dispute with the victim that took place in the 2500 block of Main Street. Police said witnesses separated the couple, then Ricketts fled to his home at 2500 Rowan Street, locking himself in with the couple’s three children .
The arrest citation stated that police tried to make contact with Ricketts, but he would not answer the door. Police said they located a note on the door that said, “no way in, one way out.”
Police said the victim was able to confirm the handwriting as the suspects. Police obtained written permission to enter the house with the victim’s key.
Police said as they prepared for entry, Ricketts fled out the back door with a knife. Police caught Ricketts after a brief foot chase, during which the suspect attempted to throw the knife in the yard.
The three children were unharmed and the knife was recovered.
Ricketts is charged with assault fourth, menacing, wanton endangerment first and tampering with physical evidence.
