LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- All the cold weather we've had lately is driving up electric and gas bills.

Some people are having sticker shock when opening up their latest bills.

Some people we talked to said they're already dressing in layers at home, not running appliances and insulating their homes to keep the thermostat down, but it's not making much of a difference.

So, how much can we expect our bills to go up? Is there any assistance if you have trouble paying them? What can we do around the house to keep the lid on costs?

Natasha Collins from LG&E has the answers in the video player above.
