LIBERTY, Ky. (WHAS11) – A Casey County man has died after police say he accidentally impaled himself with a knife Saturday.

Police say 40-year-old Barry Wilson was discovered in his yard just after 6 p.m. and according to the investigation, he was walking down an embankment carrying a potted marijuana plant and a knife. They say Wilson attempted to cross over a fence when he tripped and fell on the knife, stabbing himself in the chest.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Casey County Coroner.

Police say an autopsy will be performed and no foul play is expected.

The investigation is ongoing.
