Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11)- Kentucky driver's licenses are getting an upgrade for security.

The new license has multiple layers of security features to make it harder for counterfeiters to produce fake IDs.

Circuit court clerks' offices will be installing new equipment to implement the changes.

The new features include a digital watermark that cannot be seen by the human eye and improved lamination.

Drivers are not required to get a new one until their current one expires.

They will still cost you $20.
