LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Just days after the resignation of Department of Veterans Affairs Chief Eric Shinseki, lawmakers across the country continue to question the problematic health care system for veterans.

Although Louisville’s VA Hospital is about average for patient waiting time, several hospitals are under investigation but no one knows which ones.

Congressman John Yarmuth says under these circumstances there is a need for transparency.

“I understand the case for not releasing those data records, you want an investigation that's thorough and unbiased, but again, because of the controversy I think transparency is a better course,” he said.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell feels the delays are unacceptable.

“These delays are completely and totally unacceptable particularly good responsive and timely health care and we made these promises going all the way back to WWII.  We need to keep that promise and it's going to take a lot of consultation on a bipartisan basis,” he said.

Nashville’s VA Hospital was the worst out of 142 hospitals where the average wait is 65 days.
