LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Kentucky general assembly is considering a new bill that would allow school districts more flexibility when dealing with school closings or delays during inclement weather while ensuring instructional time stays the same.

If passed, House Bill 338 will give districts more leeway in constructing and amending their annual calendars and would not change the work day or work year for teachers.

The bill would also allow districts to decide how to make up for lost time so students and teachers have the necessary time to complete classroom instruction.

Several area districts have moved to amend their school calendars to make up for all of the missed days this year.
